Let me introduce you...

Hey there!

So, I have once introduced you to my best friend Radar, the little black kitty who has stolen  my heart time and time again.  You can learn about her here.

She has a younger brother who is also very near and dear to my heart.

Meet Gus, the forever kitty!

Gus the Cat

He is a soft, muted grey kitty, whose fur is as soft as cotton.  His temperament is very sweet though he is also a big scaredy cat.  He does not like the sound of plastic bags crinkling, or thunderstorms.  He enjoys treats and his dad's old socks laying about.

He and Radar play fight all of the time, but at the end of the day, he really loves his sister.

This little boy means the world to me.  I am really glad I have such great kitties!

I am back / Allegan County Fair September 2011

Hello guys and gals!  I have been gone for a while.  It has been a mix of being sick, unmotivated, sad, sick...yeah, that list can go on and on.  Right now, I should be packing for a trip back home (though unfortunately, no stop to the Michigan City CCO :( ) but I decided to change things up a bit and let you know about the fair I went to the other day.

In Allegan, Michigan, roughly half and hour or so from Kalamazoo, during a week in September, the Allegan County Fair is held.  This is my second year going.  Typical fair, you have your 4-H stuff, animals, veggies, crafts and knick knacks.  Let us not forget about the rides, food, and vendors selling everything from velvet paintings to airbrushed license plates.

Me and my boyfriend went on dollar days, which was a sweet deal!  Dollar parking, dollar per person, and regardless of ride, dollar per ride.  That worked out perfectly, as we rode the Tilt-A-Whirl!  OMG! I have not been on a ride in over 8 years!  That was an experience!

The Allegan County Fairgrounds are "protected" by this giant statue which I love... :)

The ride fairway was small and had rides that seemed like only small children could get on.  There were a few that were fitting for adults.  Going around dusk lets all the lights of the rides shine in the nighttime sky, which is a huge plus if you are going to photograph any of them...

And now onto the animals!  I grew up in an urban setting, so being up to animals this close is always a trip.  Most always, anytime we saw animals, they were in zoos.  Ha!  You have to get used to walking from room to room and get the smells to not bother you, but it was so much fun...

Maybe I am a little bit of a country girl after all... ;)

Meet my main gal pal!

Meet my kitty Radar!  She is basically my partner in crime.  She is quite the beauty geek as well.  I have caught this lovely little lady rolling around in my blushes on more than one occasion.  She loves to smell makeup brushes, and makeup in general!  She prefers dark eye and lip colors, some neutrals, but LOVES bright blushes!

She loves to groom.  Her coat is uber shiny.  I wonder if its the food we give her, or if she is secretly using my Frederic Fekkai glossing mist! :)  She is sensitive, but can rock bold looks with all the confidence of the world.  She is my best friend!

Just a thought...v.1.0

So, I recently got a gym membership.  Yeah, I actually have one.  I have been struggling to change certain habits for quite some time now.  These past two weeks has seen a change in eating and in how active I am.  This all pertains to how I am with makeup/beauty...how I carry myself.  I was scared to post pix of myself for tutorials cause I thought..."wow, look how large my face looks!".  But I have come to the realization that will be a good thing.  I am looking at it as a way to chart progress.

Thanks for letting me ramble.  Tomorrow we will be back with our regularly scheduled blog.  :)

Memorial Day

Hello all.  Hope everyone had an amazing Memorial Day weekend.  I had the pleasure of watching my boyfriend's dad march in his hometown parade.  Boy, was it a hot one.  91 degrees, a slight breeze, and sun that could melt metal.  I was smart enough to wear light clothing, had my long hair up and away from my face, and simple makeup.

I have to give it up to Make Up Forever's Aqua Creams.  I wore shade number 15 as a wash all over the lid.  This held up even when I took off my sunglasses and started to perspire heavily.  I must say that two of my to-go-to products let me down.  First up is Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel eyeliner.  I wore this in shade 27 Caviar Ink on the waterline.  About an hour into being outside in the sun, this had already vanished from the waterline, with some patchiness that just looked bad.  The other disappointment was my beloved Tarte Amazonian 12 hour wear blush in Tipsy.  This lovely orange color simply melted off of my cheeks within the first hour of being outside.

I had brought with me some spray sunscreen by Neutrogena, a water atomizer, and tons of bottled water.

I haven't photographed my last little haul yet, so please be patient.  I promise to have that up by tomorrow.

A career change is not always the easiest thing to go through.  I am finding this out now.  I am also finding out that people may be very passionate about how they feel about something or someone, but given the right circumstances, will change, and adopt what they had just thrown away.

Night everyone...until tomorrow.

New goodies!

Hello all! Today was another warm one, and we had a bit of a storm too. Did a lot around the house...cleaned, collected trash, blah blah blah. I made some amazing manicotti that turned out really really well! My roommate had 4 manicotti, and they were huge.

So, my roommate when to get a haircut, and while at the mall, I decided to stop at Sephora Inside JC Penny. I was finally able to get the LORAC Hot Off The Red Carpet Collection. It is a 4 piece kit that comes with a cute bag. No pictures tonight. Promise to update tomorrow, and will try to get some good light and maybe try my hand at a swatch or two.

I have a friend coming over tomorrow for a makeup trial, as she is getting married, and has asked me if to do her makeup. Have my train cases full of stuff she will hopefully like!

I am off to bed now. :)

Some link love...

Hey guys! Super warm and rainy day today. That equaled out to not a good makeup day. Though I have to sing praises to Make Up For Ever's aqua creams. I wore #13, which is a pinky champagne color, and it held up really under the humid air.

Went to TJ MAXXX and was trying to find a summer bag. Alas, I left without a new bag, but was able to pick up an unopened, 1oz Pink Sugar Sensual! I do not know many people who actually like this scent, and it may be a bit heavy for summer, but I LOVE IT!

Also got a small, cross body bag that is black and pink for when I go shopping. Efficiency is the way to go!

Don't forget guys, for those who love and are into drugstore makeup, the Sunday paper carries many coupon circulars that contain great coupons on Cover Girl, L'Oreal, Garnier, Rimmel, Sally Hansen, etc. Make sure to match these up with store circulars for the ultimate in beauty deals. Places like Rite-Aid and CVS have store cards for additional savings, or Wal-Greens has register rewards that you can use towards future purposes.

A few other places you can find me...

Good luck on your next drugstore haul. I need to get my facial on and then get to bed!

Just another day...

It is starting to get really warm outside. That is a good and bad thing. I am looking forward to warm nights, being out with friends, and working out and sweating twice as much as I normally do. Which always makes me feel good. It also means that sweater season is over, and that makes me quite sad. Well, I am still without work. I really wish the last place could have worked out, but there was way too much going on there to justify staying there. I do miss the paychecks, and the lifestyle those paychecks paid for.

I have a wedding coming up where I will be doing the makeup. I have slowly and steadily gotten my kit up to par for this event. It is for a close friend that I am hoping to make very happy. This is our gift to her. I still have to purchase more brushes, cotton and such. The greatest thing would be word of mouth. To have a few of these to do over the summer for supplemental income would be amazing. I am thinking of ordering a cube, that way it is simple, and I still get paid at point of service.

I am really loving the Hello Kitty perfume my best friend bought me from Sephora. It is such a summery scent. And I also have to mention that Tarte's Amazonian clay 12 hour wear blushes are AH-MAY-ZING!

Almost four years...

Place: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Time:8:55am est
Date:9/24/2009

I decided to start writing again in hopes that others who have written before will pick it up again...you know who I am talking about TOM!

Sitting here, thinking it has been too long since the last time I committed anything to paper or screen, made me kind of sad. Long gone are my short, witty tidbits of awesomeness. It is kinda depressing how I've lost that like keys. I received a letter from Vixxx a few days ago and started to write her, but even then, it has been like pulling teeth.

As I was getting ready for work this morning, I turned the TV on for background noise. I must admit, I could not block any of what was going on out. MTV, VH1...shit, I feel horrible for the youth of today. And yeah, I'm sitting here all of 27 years old, but I had it better, I was lucky. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be a highschooler now and have the need to be in the IN crowd.

I miss the days where I could turn the radio on and hear smoking popes, Juliana Hatfield, Olivia tremor control...music that would never get a chance on MTV right now. Being a kid and enjoying alternative nation...or listening to industrial zone @ 2:00am on Chicago's Q101, sitting with my sister watching AMP on MTV, being introduced to Kool Keith, Orbital and Future Sound of London. Where did those days go? Where did that music go? Where is that little girl?

I guess I could sit here and whine about it. I could also sit here and forget about it, and think towards the future as well. But I feel betrayed by that little girl. Betrayed at the fact life did not stay as it was. Sure I knew I was going to grow up, and with that came, work, money, responsibility, relationships. She betrayed me in everything that complimented who I was. The soundtrack that was from 1992-1997 is gone...the tape has been played dull. I didn't expect that to change...why would I? It was the music every step my feet made. When it stopped playing, I didn't know where I was anymore.

Anywhere I go now, I don't hear "the more you ignore me, the closer I get", and or when I think of Merida, I don't hear " I hate my sister, she's such a bitch, she acts as if she doesn't even know that I exist". That's all done for...or is it?

Those thoughts aside, life right now is in a strange rhythm. Rix is busy with work and music more than he's ever been. I got promoted at work and still working out the kinks of having more responsibility and more people to watch. Family life in Indiana will always be like it is...never changing.

My four year anniversary with Rixie is tomorrow. I cannot imagine that it has laready been 4 years. We have been living together 3 of those 4 years. Just glad I am here and that we made it. Life has handed us some pretty shitty situations, but luckily, I have a great partner in crime to be right at my side. Sure, he's silly beyond imagination, likes Mastodon, thinks XBOX is greater than Playstation, never dresses up, would eat fast food his entire life if he could, has the two weirdest cats on the planet, forgets to make his eye appointments, and is a complete dude...he is still the love of my life. I am completely obsessed with everything that he is. I have loved this man since day one, no questions asked. It is possible to be completely head over heels the first time you see them. And I was. And still am.
