Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon - Swatch

hourglass opaque rouge liquid ls ICON
The red lip.  An almost everyday staple of my beauty routine.  Here we have Hourglass' Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon.  I purchased this lovely item at Sephora for $28.00 USD.  The container is a shiny, lacquered plastic screw top bottle.  This screws very tightly...I have never had any trouble with it rolling around my makeup bag.  In the bottle, you receive 3g/0.10 us oz of liquid lipstick.

Here are a few things to note in case you are allergic to certain ingredients...

Ingredients
Icon is described as a true blue based red.  I find the formula is 50/50.  I love that the liquid itself feels light upon application.  Once it sets, though, it is dry.  Those with dry lips or are prone to getting dry throughout the day may want to steer clear.  It has wonderful wear time.  With minimal drinking and eating, I have had a successful 7 hours of wear without touch ups.  There is a light chemical scent to it that may bother you if allergic to scent.

I recommend that you let the lipstick set once you have it on your lips to ensure an even application.  The first few hours were comfortable for me to wear, anything after that did feel a bit drying, but I applied a waxy balm and that took care of it.  The finish is semi matte with just the tiniest bit of a sheen.  There is no sparkle or shimmer in this formula.

Will definitely be a repurchase for me with other colors in the liquid lipstick line.

Enjoy.

Tiny Purchase ft Too Faced, Urban Decay (Ulta)

Hello everyone!

Weather is getting warm, days are getting longer and I am actually enjoying it now!  What I have for you today is a small from Ulta.  This was purchased with the 20% off coupon they mailed out a couple of months ago.

Repurchase was Too Faced's Shadow Insurance.  I had moved on from this to try a few other primers...(I am a primer ho!) but find myself coming back to this time and time again.  It is a fabulous workhorse of a primer with an awesome price to boot.  This was purchased for $20.00 USD.

I picked up Urban Decay's Afterglow Glide on Cheek color in Crush.  I had a sample of the color Quickie and had fallen in love with the texture and wear of this product.  I cannot wait to get a full review out to you soon.  This was purchased for $24.00 USD.  I looked on the Ulta site and they are currently not on there, and if you go to Urban Decay's site, the are on sale for $9.00 USD...I do not know if they are getting discontinued (fingers crossed they are not), but I would say stock up now!

Small haul, but one that has made me happy nonetheless.

What you been purchasing recently?

Makeup Forever Aqua Cream #15 + #2 Swatches/Review

I live and die for anything that is long wearing.  Especially in the warmer months.  Makeup melt is something I despise!

For this exact reason I bring you Makeup Forever's Aqua Creams in #2 and #15...

MUFE Aqua Cream #15 + #2
Aqua Creams are a highly pigmented, long lasting cream shadow.  The amount of product you get is 0.21oz/6g.  The cream comes in a plastic, screw top packaging.  The colors above are #2 and #15.

MUFE Aqua Creams #15 , #2
What you get inside of these circular tubs of awesome is a cream shadow that is basically bullet proof, unless you are under pretty intense conditions.  These have a play time of around 30 seconds before they start to dry and become harder to blend.  They dry down nicely and DO NOT MOVE.  I have normal eye lids, after the 6th hour mark, they get a bit oily and my shadow will start to break down.  Under normal circumstances, these have never creased, faded, moved.  It was not until I wore them last summer during an outing where it was 100 degrees in the sun, that I noticed that they started to fade and crease.

Because they are very long wearing, removal can be a bit more work.  I use an oil based cleanser (theBalm's Balmsaway) to remove this, and then wash my face normally.  If not, I do find that I would tug to get it off.  The creams are long lasting, and that may equal dry lids to some of us, but in my experience, I did not get dry lids, flaking, any changes to the skin in the eye area.

MUFE Aqua Creams #15, #2 direct sunlight
Left swatch - #15:

This is described as a shimmery taupe, but I find this to wear more bronze on me and it even looks like that in the tub.  I would personally describe this as a perfect mix between a golden brown and bronze.  Texturally, smooth and easy to blend.  This does shimmer but it is not overtly so.

Right swatch - #2

This is described as a silver, grey shimmer, but to me, especially in real life, this seems more taupey than anything.  The texture is smooth, and it feels a bit more translucent than #15.  I find that with #2, I usually go over it twice to get a good, solid base of color.  Not over the top shimmery, this is a grey that has a lot of brown to it.  It is a complex color that I think will take on different properties on different skin tones.

You can find these Sephora, MUFE online, and other retailers.  They usually retail for around $23.00 USD.

Thank you! :)
