Continue that summer glow with Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer

*DISCLAIMER - Item sent by company for the purposes of testing/reviewing.  All words are 100% my own unless noted.  I am not being financially compensated for this post.**POWERED BRANDBACKER*

This summer, I was lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time outdoors and this led to my first tan in years.  I had forgotten what it was like to look healthy and bronze.  Now, don't get me wrong, I've got melanin, I know.  But I am always on the lighter shade of things so it was a change for me.  With that tan, I was a rocking a pretty sweet glow that I am was afraid of losing with the autumn here and winter just around the corner.  Thankfully, Valentia stepped in with their Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer and took care of any concern I had!

Let's get to the details...
Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer comes in a 4.0fl.oz/120ml dark glass bottle with a pump dispenser.  This moisturizer retails for $25.00 USD.  Moisturizer can be purchased through Amazon HERE.

From Valentia.com...
"Packed with brightening power, this moisturizer helps to lighten pigmentation marks and enhance the radiance of your overall complexion.  With energizing antioxidants like Ginseng and Kojic Acid to control melanin production, dark spots are faded and collagen production is enhanced, revealing firmer more even skin.  Skin moisture is replenished is protected with Botanical Hyaluronic Acid, Safflower and Shea Butter.  Tired and Dull looking skin is restored to unveil a healthier, more vibrant glow." - Valentia

The Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer is a lightweight yet moisturizing lotion that leaves skin with a radiant glow.  I was surprised because at first pump, the lotion itself seems very basic.  Once blended into the skin, you start to feel how soft and plump the skin becomes.  The lotion is very fast absorbing and leaves no trace of film afterward.  It is softly scented but the smell starts to fade soon after application.  I find that this plays well with my current multi-step facial routine.  This does brighten and make skin glow.  The feeling of moisture lasts for a huge chunk of the day and in areas where I normally get oily when introducing a new cream, I have minimal oil production.  After the first 2 weeks, I noticed a bit of fading on some of my darker spots.  I even used this cream down my neck, decolletage and arms and it has been a godsend on my arms (I suffer from keratosis pilaris) and this has smoothed them quite a bit.

Valentia keeps knocking them out of the park and cannot wait to see what they release next!

Things to remember and check out..!

LUKE Mugwort Nose Strip - review

*DISCLAIMER - Item(s) sent by company for the purpose of testing/review.  All opinions and words are 100% my own.  I am not being financially compensated for this review.*

I am an avid nose strip user.  Yes, I know there are people who say you should not use them, that they cause more harm than good.  Well, you know what?  I like to use them, I find them effective and continue to use them as an integral part of my skincare routine.  Well, enough of that rant.  Let's get on with the stripping ;)...

I was sent this lovely strip by Skin18.com Natural Beauty Skincare, a lovely site that has tons of skincare from Asian skincare with brands like LUKE, aritaum, leaders, mediheal and more.  The LUKE Nose Strips come in three different varieties (Charcoal, Mugwort and Lemon Tea Tree) and right now retail for just $0.65 cents USD!!!

Beware, nose pore closeup!!!
Before - there is obvious congestion on my nose.  Pore size is something I also struggle with, which is why I like to keep those suckers as clean as I can.  I washed with a basic, non-abrasive face wash so that I could see the extent of the powers of the strip!

As with all skincare, I followed the steps as stated on the package:
1 wet nose
2 apply strip
3 wait 10-20 minutes
4 remove and enjoy

Its blue, its blue!
This strip dried down so quickly...that was something I was not anticipating.  It adhered to the skin nicely without needing my face to be doused with water.  I will say though, there was a weird herbal, sulfuric scent to this that was a bit disconcerting, but thankfully, subsided quickly.  Removal of the strip was just like any other.  Since this had stuck on good and proper, it did leave my skin a bit red.  But it lifted the demon scum from my pores and for that, I am grateful.

After -

Nose was cleaner and skin was smooth.  Redness went away after a few short minutes and I was happy.  That nose looks a lot more pleasant...doesn't it?

Aftermath:

See those little "trees" sticking out?  Yup.  Goners!!!

Give your lashes a boost with Wet n Wild's photofocus Lash Primer

*DISCLAIMER - Item(s) for this review purchased by the passenger element blog.*

WetnWild photofocus Lash Primer
I can imagine what you might be thinking...I'm busy enough...do I really need to prime my lashes also?? :/.  Well, no, you don't have to.  But let me show you why you might after reading this...

Wet n Wild's photofocus Lash Primer is widely available at drugstores and also big box stores such as Wal-Mart.  This was purchased at my local Walgreen's for $4.99 USD.  It is packaged as any typical mascara would be with a midsize spoolie on one end.  Contained inside are 0.27fl.oz/8ml of cream product.  According to Wet n Wild's website, this only comes in one color - 849B Committed a Prime.

This primers blend of waxes also contains vitamins A, E and D-Panthenol to give lashes an added boost of health while building lash length and volume!

The creamy primer formulation is somewhere between wet and dry.  It is akin to when I like to age a mascara and open it and let it sit to make it easier to layer/dry.  The brush coated lashes pretty well, aside from some clumps here and there.  It separated my lashes really well!  I was surprised to see that it did not cake up my lashes into sections.

Clean lashes - eye makeup was left without liner so that you could see the impact of the primer and mascara on its own without any help.

Lashes - Primer added.  Heavier white areas denote larger deposits of the primer.

This is one coat of primer and one coat of a popular drugstore mascara.

Lashes are slightly thickened and lengthened even more.  Mascara and the photofocus primer work well with each other.

I'm really happy with the results.  I used the mascara here the most with the primer, but I also used quite a few other mascaras, both drugstore and high end.  I did not find that the mascaras flaked at all and was really happy with the condition of my lashes after removal.  During removal, it felt as if I had used 2 to 3 layers of mascara, so the process took a bit longer than usual, but nothing that was too much or annoying to handle.  The primer does have a bit of a chemical scent that goes away rather quickly after application.

Repurchase - absolutely.  Definitely a great way to turn dud mascaras into something better!

About Face - the basic ins and outs of my skin

So...before we even start, there will be faces of my naked skin, no filters, no creams, potions or lotions.  Just freshly washed skin.

I've wanted to do this post for such a long time.  First, because I am deep in the throws of a skincare obsession that shows no signs of waning.  And secondly, because I review makeup, I wear it and I need to get better about posting FOTD's, but it would be nice to show you what I am working with.  I am hoping that this goes far in helping someone that may share some similarities with me.

Alright, here we go...

Tanned against my will, freshly washed face, no product
So here is my mugshot.  I recently helped a friend move coming on a week now.  I was much paler before this and now am toasty brown.  Anymore sun and I will definitely be hitting brownie status.  But here we are...lets go down the list of exactly what nature is throwing my way!

*dark circles (horrible sleep schedule that I keep)
*hyperpigmentation (Im sure getting sun the other day didnt help, but I've been getting kind of impatient with pimples and bumps recently, so I have been picking more than I usually do)
*fine lines under the eyes (yup, its starting...but hey, I laugh and smile, sue me.  It shows!)
*texture (bumps all over the place!  I try to keep this in check and though I won some battles, I have not won the war yet :( )
*dryness - another war I have not won yet...moisturizers galore and exfoliation to boot and I have yet to find something that will kill the dryness monster altogether!
*oiliness - don't get me started.  Your typical combo-oily gal, T-zone oily poster child...here I am!

Issues, I haz them
Let's start from the beginning...as a teenager, I was lucky enough (thanks mom and dad) that I did not have a traumatic experience with teenage acne.  Mom started me on Noxema cream from a very early age, that and okay, yeah, I let her pick my face.  I attribute the condition of my skin then to those two things.  Slightly oily in the tzone, normal everywhere else, I had no trouble with any makeup or skincare I decided to add to my routine.  I state confidently that I had normal, not in the slightest sensitive, great skin.  This followed throughout my 20's, with hormonal acne taking a bigger bite out of my face, but nothing I could not handle.  Then came my late 20's to early 30's....and here is where it got ... weird.

Texture and peach fuzz galore!
In my 30's, my skin changed quite a bit.  Gone were the days where I could slather whatever lotion or foundation I could get my hands on and not experience any changes with my skin.  I started to experience sensitivities that I had not in my younger years.  Redness around my nose, dry patches on cheeks, forehead, and corners of mouth, hyperpigmentation, texture that I could not exfoliate off, increased pore size, fine lines (which I expected though).  I am sure there are a myriad of other details but hey, I'm sensitive :p.

I am hoping this gives you a good look into my specific makeup and helps you and I track what future skincare works or doesn't.  You may have my issues, maybe more, maybe less, but let's see if we can't get to a much more improved state together!  I decided to take a break from a lot of the previous skincare I was using to cleanse my skin and also to introduce new products.

You guys will see all the new things I am obsessing over soon :)

Let's start this journey...shall we?

xo, D

Derma E...Now Available at Target!!! #NOTICETHELOTUS in 2016

*DISCLAIMER - Item sent by company for the purposes of reviewing/testing.  I am  being financially compensated for this review.  All words and opinions are 100% my own.* *powered by brandbacker.*

Let us celebrate 2016 with the union of two unbelievable powerhouses...Target stores and derma e!  Yes, you read that right!  derma e will now be available at Target stores.  Want to know a bit more?

"Imagine a time, not long ago...

When people didn’t consider how their internal health affected their outward appearance. And, nobody understood that what you put on your skin matters too. The phrases “superfood”, “holistic health” and “sustainable” were rarely or never used. Nobody was concerned about their skincare being eco-friendly and nobody was eating kale.

Then derma e® got started.

Healthy before healthy was “in”
derma e® pushed skincare forward in a new direction by fusing powerful vitamins and plants together with modern science - we called it Green Chemistry. Continuing to be always aware, derma e® adheres to the highest ethical standards when it comes to animal welfare and our impact on the planet.

The results
derma e® built a passionate following in the natural products industry and beyond, always aspiring to make highly effective, premium skincare formulas but with cruelty-free green chemistry." - derma e

Thinking about my next Target run and what I need to get.  I am about to enter second semester of my program at university and will probably need school supplies, new clothes, snacks.  But this new year also has me thinking I need to treat my skin better, so with that mentality, it will be awesome to pick up new derma e skincare while shopping for all my other needs.  Aside from the Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream, you will also be able to purchase their nourishing Hydrating Night Cream, Day Cream and the Firming DMAE Moisturizer.

I had the pleasure of being able to review the Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream.  This is heaven!!!  A thick yet easily blendable and fast absorbing eye cream that includes DMAE, which is a skin firming nutrient and Insta-Lift Goji Berry glycopeptides for additional firming, and hyaluronic acid.  Eye Lift quickly moisturizes the eye area due to the hyaluronic acid...this attracts water and therefore, you feel completely moisturized and even has a cooling effect due to this.  So far, I have noticed that my eye area is tighter and brighter.  I even use this on my eye lid and brow bone and have already noticed slight changes in the short amount of time I've used this.

Want a more in depth look at Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream?  Check out derma e's youtube channel for the video HERE.

Or simply check out derma e's website here for additional information on Firming DMAE Eye Lift - HERE.

It's about time you guys do something nice for yourselves and try something new.  Whether that is incorporating healthier food into your diet, becoming more active, relaxing more, etc, whatever it is, try something different.  I know my skin will have a chance at being healthier and more beautiful with derma e.

Remember guys....just #NOTICETHELOTUS and head to Target!

Lets start with the Best Sellers kit!

The BDB Best Sellers Kit contains 4 items: Universal Brow Pencil, Brow Duo Pencil, Smudge Brush and Brow Gel.

Swatches above are as follows from top to bottom:
Brow Duo - Concealer first, highlighter second
Universal Brow Pencil - One pass, Two passes

The pencils in this kit were super creamy, soft and easy to blend! This shade is universal, I have seen this work on so many skin tones.  The Brow Duo is the perfect tool...with a concealer and highlighter in one, you can customize your brows in one easy step.

Before...

Bare brow, sparse spaces, hair is thinning in certain areas
After:

Brow filled using Best Sellers Kit
This kit is pretty amazing.  It has everything you need to tailor a brow to your liking.  All the pencils contained, again, are super creamy  and blendable.  I like a more natural looking brow and I think this kit helped achieve it, but it can also go high glam with a more defined and dramatic brow!

The 60 Seconds to Beautiful Brows Kit is just that...a super condensed version of their beloved best sellers.  Contained within are a double sided, high quality brush and brow powder.  This was the easiest and fastest thing to use.  Load up your brush, fill and define your brow and done!  It was nice to see that I could go light for a natural look or add a bit more for a super dramatic brow.  The powder is finely milled that it almost feels creamy.  Never clumpy  or dry, I did not experience any fall out or stiff brow look or feel.

Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme - Desire and Flirt (swatches)

*Items shown purchased by the Passenger Element Blog*

I went looking EVERYWHERE for these matte lip cremes.  My beautiful friend Jenni was kind enough to grab one for me on her own hunt for these.  Just a few weeks ago, I casually happened to walk into a Walgreens and there was a display that was already attacked majorly, but I was able to find another!!! SQUEEEE!  Shall I show you what I got?

Milani Matte Lip Cremes - flash
The Milani Amore Matte Lip Cremes are a part of a permanent range of 8 colors.  You can find these at CVS, Walgreen's, and their website.  These matte lip cremes usually retail around $8.99 USD.  The range, though small, goes from nude to red to dark berry.  The tube is typical clear, plastic body with signature Milani gold top.  Inside each tube, you receive 0.21 oz/ 6 g of liquid product.

Milani Matte Lip Cremes - No flash / indoor lighting
Amore Milani Matte lip cremes are just that...a matte, liquidy yet creamy lip product that goes on wet and dries down to a very matte texture.  What I have noticed with these lip cremes is that not every color is the same...more on that later.

Milani Matte Lip Creme - applicator
The applicator on this is quite unique.  It has a rounded top with straight sides, where one side is more straight, and the other side is more like that of  a "scoop".  That scoop collects products which you may or may not like.  I do in that I don't have to dip into the tube again and can usually finish both lips with one go.  The rounded out edge handles the lip line beautifully.

Milani Matte Lip Cremes in Flirt (t) and Desire (b)
Here now are swatches of both of the colors I have, both with flash...

Milani Matte Lip Creme - Desire (flash) (ONE COAT)
Desire Matte Lip Creme was a dream to work with!  This is a not so basic bright red.  It is so vivid!!!!  The consistency of Desire was liquidy, but never hard to work with.  Dry down was set in under 5 minutes and then you get this matte goodness.  Nothing bad to say about this at all.  The color, tone and texture speak for themselves!

Milani Matte Lip Creme in Flirt (flash) (TWO COATS)
Flirt is the one out of the lip cremes that I was disappointed with.  This is a beautiful color and so perfect for fall!!!  Flirt is a vampy, extremely deep berry/burgundy shade.  Same liquid consistency as Desire, but this applied and wore patchy.  Patch city is what you can call this.  Layering this lip creme was tricky for me too.  Beautiful color, just....patch-mania is too high.

Both have same consistency as far as pre-application texture.  They also smell like synthetic vanilla frosting.  For being matte, these are surprisingly easy and comfortable to wear.  Almost feels like nothing once the product is dry.  The scent did not linger too long after drydown, though those with allergies to scents may want to patch test first.  Desire was so opaque and blendable!  I have layered Desire and find that it plays well with itself.  Unlike Flirt, who did not want to cover opaquely, could not layer without getting chunky or flaky.

When eating anything oil based, these will wear off.  You will get the lip liner, worn off lipstick look.  During casual wear with drinking, talking and eating non-oily foods, I can get a good 4 hours before the inside of the mouth area starts to crumble.  Also, if you rub your lips together once set, these will crumble off as well.

Do I wish they were a bit more long wearing and could withstand a salad with an oil based salad dressing? Yes.  But then again I have to remember to get my head out of the clouds and think realistically.  For the price, these are pretty damn awesome!  I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the red and berry colors!

xoxo, Diana

Journey to 100 Empties!!! 1-5

*All Items In This Post Purchased by The Passenger Element*

I have to admit...seeing empties posts is enjoyable!  Once I took stock of the mass of products I had accumulated, there was even a bigger thrill in getting to the point where I was pairing down, using and enjoying the products I had.  Here is my first entry into empty land...

#1 - BIORE Self Heating One Minute Mask - I'm a huge fan of anything mask for the skin...lotions, potions and every notion under the sun.  This mask is easy to use and what I love the most about it is that you can feel the heat and feel it working.  I just wish there were more packets in the container.  You get 4 single use packets for between $6-7 dollars.  Not exactly exorbitant, but its drugstore, give us a few more.

#2 - MEIJER (store brand) Strengthening Nail Polish Remover - just your run of the mill polish remover.  Did not dry my perpetually ragged cuticles any further, so that was a plus.

#3 - E.L.F Shine Eraser Oil Blotting Sheets - 50 blotter sheets.  One dollar.  They work.  Enough said.

#4 - BATH AND BODY WORKS Mad About You shower gel - Foamy, rinses clean, does not add much in the way of moisture, but you do feel clean!  Contains notes of Black Current, Vanilla, Peony and Strawberry.

#5 - MAC Zoom Lash mascara - A holy grail in my book. Lengthening, thickening, and black as all hell.  Gives structure to my lashes, but never hard enough to consider them "crispy".  Never experienced any flaking, smearing, smudging.  This starts as a pretty wet formula, or at least the 2 tubes I have had were, so I let them dry out a bit and they become the perfect consistency.

What are you guys currently emptying?

Bring the spa home with Pure & Essential Minerals Dead Sea Mud Mask

*DISCLAIMER - Product sent by company for the purposes of testing and review.  I am not being financially compensated for this review.  All words and opinions are 100% my own.* *POWERED BY BRANDBACKER*

Home spa nights...one of my most treasured at home treats to indulge in.  Lighting candles, mani-pedi's, a warm bath and facials bring to mind the peace and quiet we all need during our busy weeks.  Being a fan of face masks, I was excited at the chance to try Pure & Essential Minerals Dead Sea Mud Mask and see how I could incorporate it into my skincare routine!

Pure & Essential Minerals Dead Sea Mud Mask is mineral rich mud mask known for its healing properties.  Within the sturdy plastic jar, you get 6oz of product.  This can last you up to 30+ applications!  The price of the mask is $24.77, but when you visit Pure and Essential Minerals website, you can get $10 off of your order on Amazon.com!

Pure&Essential Minerals Dead Sea Mud Mask
"The Dead Sea, situated between Israel and Jordan, is 1400 feet below sea level, and the lowers point on the earth's surface.  The healing properties of its mineral-rich mud have been revered for centuries.  This facial mask draws out impurities, toxins, and excess oils leaving your skin feeling soft and clean.  Dead Sea minerals nourish and restore the skin's vitality, stimulate and improve blood circulation, resulting in a wonderful glow.  Used weekly, your skin will look and feel its best." - Pure & Essential Minerals

#deadseafacial product texture
The mud itself is extremely lightweight on the skin.  It feels like a wet, whipped consistency.  There is a rather pungent scent here, but it does dissipate rather quickly upon application.

Dead Sea Mud Mask - mid application
The lovely aspect of this mask is that you do not need to glob on tons of it in order to get results. Here is a thin layer, drying, almost at the point of washing off.  The mask does feel "tight" when it is all dry, but never uncomfortable and when you move, it  "cracks", making facial movements a bit easier.  When you go to rinse the mask, you lightly wet it a bit and then work the mask into the skin.  There are a few bits in there that exfoliate your skin.  So this is like two treatments in one!  A subtle exfoliation along with the impurity clearing mud mask aspect!!!

After Mud Mask Treatment - deadseafacial
This mask has made my skin so much more even that it has been before.  Even in texture and tone.  I do this mask twice a week.  I should note that I am combination-oily, and that is mostly through the t-zone.  Dead Sea Mud Mask has also softened my face.  After treatment, I have experienced a softening layer on my skin that does not irritate, and seeps into my skin soon after.  I love feeling how smooth my skin is!

Those who are looking to add a touch of spa to their routine should look to this mask.  Gentle, effective and easy to use. The mud has worked wonders on my breakouts, especially the cystic acne I am prone to on my chin.  It also leaves you with a fantastic glow...this mud mask is great for circulation.  I am loving my results and cannot wait to see where my texture, tone and pores are in the next few months!

I am one of those people who does not want her skin to tire or get used to skincare.  There does come a time when what you may be using stops working, no longer delivers results, or is full of ingredients you do not want to put on your skin anymore.  Thanks to Radha Beauty, I now have another choice at natural skincare...

Onto the skincare!!!

Miracle by Radha Beauty Retinol Moisturizer
The Miracle by Radha Beauty Retinol Moistuzer comes in a sleek, pump style bottle.  You get 1 fl. oz/30ml of product and retails for $27.89 USD.  "This Retinol Moisturzier is formulated with a 2.5% Retinol Complex that provides both immediate and long term release to promote radiant skin."  - Radha Beauty
Benefits:
supports natural cell turnover
improves skin texture and tone
softens lines, wrinkles

This lightweight moisturizer felt extremely luxurious on my skin.  Unscented, this product easily soaked into my skin, leaving behind super soft skin.  The cream moisturizes amazingly without being heavy on the skin.  Blended onto the skin beautifully and left me with  semi-matte, bright skin!

Intensive Youth Eye Gel
The Intensive Youth Eye Gel is like a spa day in a bottle.  This pump style bottle comes with .5 oz/15ml of thick, gel goodness.  This retails for $27.89 USD.  "Intensive Youth Eye Gel provides intensive care to the eye area and helps reduce dark circles, wrinkles, puffiness, and sagging skin.  This powerful blend increases elasticity and enhances the tone of your skin." - Radha Beauty.  The eye gel is a thick formula, so it really grabs onto the eye area and coats it in skin loving ingredients.  Once worked into the skin, it feels cool, and completely softened.  This has a very subtle cucumber scent that fades very quickly once on the skin.

Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum
This Vitamin C serum comes in push button bottle and contains 1 fl./30ml worth of liquid product.  It retails for $22.89 USD.  "This vitamin c serum is thin and highly effective.  It will help fade sun spots and discoloration, refine skin texture, reduce wrinkle formation and minimize existing wrinkles." - Radha Beauty.  The serum contains 20% vitamin c for a potent treatment.  It also contains amino acids, vitamin e and hyaluronic acid for ultimate hydration and skin softening duties! Vitamin C serum is extremely thin, so you use very little and does soak into the skin nicely.  You are left glowing. I can see this lasting a long time. I will say that this has a rather peculiar scent.

 Before Radha Beauty Skincare Regime
After Radha Beauty Skincare regime

Overall, I am happy with how soft my skin has become.  I am looking forward to see how my skin is in 2 months.  This regime was used for just over 2 weeks and the biggest, most discernable difference was how soft my skin was. The tone of my skin looks more even than it did previous to starting this regime.  I also look hydrated and have noticed a slight change in skin texture. Will definitely check in after a couple more weeks to see what other changes have taken place.  I am loving how my skin is feeling!

One Shadow Look ft. CoverGirl's Indigo Impact shadow

*DISCLAIMER: Product shown purchased by the passenger element blog.  I am not affiliated with this company.  All opinions are my own*

CoverGirl's Indigo Impact - no flash
Today I present a series I will call One Shadow Look.  There are days where I really have no time and I just throw what I can, plus a few staples in and try to look presentable.  And there are times where I really want to look great, but don't want to use a ton of products. Here we have a shadow that I love to use for one shadow looks quite a bit, especially for a bold night out!

Covergirl's Indigo Impact - flash
For this particular one shadow look, I used Covergirl's Indigo Impact, which is one of their Eye Enhancer single shadows.  This is unfortunately not sold in stores anymore, but you can still find them on ebay.

Indigo Impact is a super pigmented, shimmery, very creamy shadow that closely looks like Mac's Belle Azure, but darker.  Indigo Impact's texture was unusual...very creamy, and after use number 1, developed a film on top that didn't hinder performance, but did make getting product off the pan a bit of a nuisance.

This was applied over a white base.  I used a brush to pat on the color, and then diffuse it into the crease.  Face powder was used to diffuse it even more onto the browbone for a faded effect.  The lid was made more intense with more product being applied with my finger in a patting motion.

With flash, you pick up on the amazing shimmer this shadow has.  With the right lighting, the color comes off more light at the ball of the eye and darker in the corner and crease.

I am looking forward to finding another dupe for this...this really is my favorite blue!

Any suggestions?
