Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream - Light/Medium (Review)

Here we are again with another review...

This time we are discussing Garnier's Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in the color Light/Medium.  The bottle is  2.5 fluid ounces and comes in a plastic squeeze type form and flip top.  I have seen this usually retail at $12.99 USD.

Attention:  This is my first "BB cream".  I have had no experience with any other products like this.  The cream itself is slightly thick with amazing slip.  The pigmentation on this is pretty nice!  I do warn you now...this cream is HEAVILY SCENTED!  Now, mind you, I do not mind any of my products to be scented.  Whether I like it or not is another story.  It smells like most Garnier products...slightly and artificially fruity.

To apply this, I always used my hands.  It was nice to be able to "melt" the product as I was rubbing it into my skin.  As far as coverage, instantly I looked more even.  The finish as you are done getting into the skin is FANTASTIC!  I looked dewy, toned, plump!  It was promise in a bottle!  And then, an hour passed by and that is when I noticed the major need to blot.  I was heavily oily in the t-zone area, more so than usual.  And I had also turned into an oompah loompah...ORANGE!  The oxidation of the BB cream had turned me very orange where people were asking me where I had gotten sun or if I had been tanning that day.

During the winter months, this was actually nice.  Even complexion, extreme moisturization, smooth texture.  I did not find this to react to the up and down of cold and heat of the season.  My skin drank it up and it was lovely.  But that is where it ends :(.

Wow, it is truly scary to put these up here.  Yeowza!  But at least you get a sense of the change I experienced.  I totally recommend this for someone who has drier skin.  For oily girls, I would suggest staying away from this as far as possible.  Setting it with powder was nice for a bit, but once it oxidized, there really was no saving it from where it had turned.  I will not be repurchasing this product and I really do wish it would have worked for me.

Burt's Bees Natural Skin Solutions for Sensitive Skin - Review

Cleanser/Daily Lotion

Cleanser - I have combination skin.  I wanted to try something more steered towards sensitive skin people as my skin likes to act up during the winter months.  This cleanser is a non-sudsing, non-foaming, cream cleanser that contains Cotton Extract to prevent dryness.  This is one THICK cleanser.  There is really nothing positive for me to say about this.  It is very thick and you get a film after you rinse it off.  I found that using my Clarisonic afterwards helped in getting rid of that film.  I also felt that it did not get my skin clean.  I just did not get that fresh faced feeling at all.  This may work for sensitive skinned guys and gals, but since I don't, it just did not work for me.

Lotion - The daily moisturizing cream was very pleasant!  Another thick cream, but it feels very nice and emollient.  I now see that this will be a god send during the cold, dry weather months.  I love how it glides over the skin and has no fragrance detectable to me.  The delivery system is one of my favorites for lotions.  It comes in a pump system that is very clean and hygienic.  My nose and forehead can get a bit oily, but even with that, the lotion did not add to any greasiness.  Very moisturizing and loved the way it soaked into my skin.

I would not pay $10.00 USD to purchase the cleanser, though I would for the $15.00 USD ticket attached to the lotion.  I would advise looking for a coupon if the prices seem a little steep.  I have had no trouble finding this at Walgreens, Walmart, Target, Meijer, etc.

Skincare - What's working!

Hey there! 

For those that know me, skincare is a HUGE part of who I am.  I grew up with brothers and sisters who went through awkward phases with acne, and I was spared that experience.  From an early age, my mother instilled in me the desire and want to always take good care of my skin.  And because of that, I am extremely fortunate in the fact that I have been able to maintain decent skin.

Current Skincare

 

 

 What's working:

1.  face wash - Philosophy Purity Made Simple.  A basic, non-foaming, moisturizing wash that really does a heavy duty job of cleaning your skin, ridding you of makeup, without stripping it.

2.  face cream - Garnier Gel Cream Moisturizer.  An extremely light moisturizer that is a gel consistency ( I hate that they used the word cream.  The only thing that comes close to a gel cream came from one of the spa series products that Bath and Body works did).  Once again, lightweight, but really softens, and never feels heavy under makeup.  Absorbs quickly.  Have not noticed that it affects my primers or foundations, whether they be powder or liquid.

3.  eye cream - Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminee Eye and Lip Cream.  Lightweight, emollient, lightly scented, so subtle that I do not think anyone would mind.  Keeps my under eye area very hydrated.  Concealer just glides over this stuff!

4.  face treatment - Mario Badescu's Buffering lotion.  I am not prone to breakouts.  Whenever I do get something, I put my buffering lotion on, and its usually gone by next day.  This is like the holy grail of quick fixes.  It can dry you out if you overuse it, or put it on areas that do not need the treatment.

5.  night treatment - Decleor Ylang Ylang Purifying Night Balm.  I usually just use a regular night cream, of if I am lazy, the day cream I used.  If I find that I am dry, or broken out, uneven texture to my skin, or suffering from patchiness, I use this balm.  It is VERY thick and VERY emollient.  But this product is amazing.  The balm can feel (scary word coming up) greasy at first, but once it melts into your skin, the smell of the ylang ylang relaxes you, and the true rewards comes when you wake up.  Anytime great aunt flo is here, or the weather changes affect my skin, I reach for this.  Extremely pricey, but well worth it.
