MOTD: What Im currently wearing #2 - smokey greens

I have had quite the time shopping my current stash, and as always, adding new products.  There seems to be a constant going back to trusted items and then I find myself in a rut.  One of my resolutions this year was to shop the stash more and venture out into items I have that I barely use.  Because the more I use up, the more I can get, right?  Let's get to it...

#MOTD
I am still trying to adjust the surroundings to the lighting I have, but it is a VAST improvement on what I previously had...which is why you are now starting to see these posts!  The room I currently shoot in has dark wood, dark wine walls, and stained glass windows...not exactly a beacon of light. Thinking about getting a white backdrop and switch my tabletop to white to allow for even more light!

#MOTD Smokey Greens - no flash
This greenish, goldish, brownish (thats a lot of ish) smokey eye was a achieved with a few palettes from the stash that needed more love.  No lashes were used as I am actually going to cook dinner and do some laundry after posting this!  HA!  Glamorous house chores...

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 HR blush in Frisky - swatch/review

Tarte AC blush in Frisky
Today I bring you Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 hour blush in Frisky.  This blush can be found at Sephora, Ulta, and Tarte's own site.  There are 15 colors to this series.  Each blush retails for $26.00 USD and contains 5.6g/0.20oz of powder product inside.  The case is a hard plastic with sturdy closure, mirror inside. Tarte has colored the plastic as close to the blush color inside as possible.

Tarte AC blush Frisky - outdoors/no flash/overcast
The color of this compact in particular is very close to what you get inside the pan.  This is a bright, shimmering coral with gold flecks.  The compact does a good job of reflecting that.

Tarte AC Frisky - outdoor/overcast/no flash
At first swipe of this for a swatch, Frisky was very bright.  It almost turned me off to it.  Also, the gold flecks, which are damn beautiful to look at, flew all over my skin.  The texture of this blush is nice.  The blush cake is hard, but soft to a brush's touch.  I do not find this to be powdery at all, the only fallout was the glitter.  The glitter does not stick around (WOO HOO!), once you swirl over the brush and tap the brush, you do not get any of the glitter on your face.

AC Frisky blush: outdoor/overcast/no flash
This looks vibrant, and it really is, but what I love about the formula is that it is incredibly buildable.  I do find that not all AC's are created equal.  The blush cake on this is firm, and when you swatch with either a brush or finger, it does not feel as if you are picking up a ton, but a swatch later, and holy pigmentation!  Light touches with this particular blush are best.  I have a few other AC's that I do two or three swipes with in order to get a nice amount of color.  I would not say that for me, combo-oily skin, these last 12 hours.  I do get a good 6-8 hour period though, and you cannot beat that.

These are all really great blushes.  I like that the color range isn't overwhelming in regards to color choice.

Thanks for stopping by!

Birchbox March 2012 (Back to Blogging!)

Hey guys and gals!

I am back.  Yes, it has been quite some time and I am back with Birchbox.  I am sure you are all aware of what Birchbox is (monthly sample service).  If not, please go HERE to learn more :)

On to the March Birchbox...

Birchbox March 2012

These past two months for me and Birchbox have been good, actually.  In this month's box, I received a full size Tarte Lipsurgence tint in Amused, a full size Essie LuxeEffects topcoat in A cut above, 10 pack of Shiseido blotting papers, sample vial of Annick Goutal's Petite Cherie and a twist band.

I was extremely happy with what I got!  The topcoat is just over the top and the Tarte lip stain, although not a color I would have purchased on my own before, turned out to be a perfect color.

I have tried to sign up for myglam bag, but was not lucky or fast enough to get a subscription.  Do you all feel that these services are worth it?
